The Event:

    The LadiesFest 8km run is an event designed to promote women's health, fitness and well being in the community. The Run allows women to challenge themselves by Walking, Jogging or Running the 8Km course.
    Pre and Post race events will include guest speakers addressing issues of particular importance to women. After the run, participants will be treated to wine & orange juice, chocolates from Bernard Callebaut and fresh flowers from Marquis Flowers. A luncheon will follow in the Ballrooms where sponsors will have exhibits displaying their products and providing information. Awards will follow the luncheon.

The Cause:

    Proceeds from the Ladiesfest 8K will be donated to the Chinook Health Region Breast Health Program. The CHR Breast Health Program is dedicated to educating women about breast health and providing women with the resources for the diagnosis and treatment of breast health problems including breast cancer. A donation of $2.00 from each entry will go towards the Breast Health Program.

Lighten Up - Just for the Hell(th) of it

    This Session will help you refocus your energy to cope with change and stress in your life in a light hearted way. There will be lots of useful hands outs and fun interaction to help you relax and laugh just for the hell(th) of it

  • Sister Madonna Buder:
    At the age of 70 Sister Madonna Buder is still going strong! Since her introduction to running, at the age of 48, she has completed numerous marathons as well as 25 Ironman distance triathlons

  • Joanna Carter
    Always an avid runner, Joanna was devastated when her running came to a sudden halt after she was seriously injured in an automobile accident. Determined to run again, Joanna took her recovery one step at a time showing incredible strength and courage. She has now returned to running and is able to share her unbelievable story with others.

Breakout Rooms

    Catch presentations following the luncheon and awards. Two sessions 1pm-2pm & 2pm-3pm

  • Maureen Buke
    Maureen is an experienced speaker and the project coordinator fort the Lethbridge Community College Be Fit For Life Center. She will be educating us on the topic of arthritis and fibromyalgia. She will focus on the symptoms of arthritis and ways of coping with the disease especially through activity.
  • Dr. Goth, Radiology Associates
    New techniques to screen and treat breast cancer
  • Dr. Ikuta
    Osteoperosis and the benefits of exercise
  • Two Local Runners
    Also listen and ask questions from two local runners as they talk about running through cancer

Mother/Daughter Division

Girls 12 & Under may accompany their mothers free of charge by completing an entry form. They will not receive their own shirt or race packet, but they will be able to enjoy the festivities as an officially registered participant

Awards

    Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age category. Awards will be unique pottery created by Bea Joevenazzo, a local artist. Bea's work can be viewed at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery.
